Millom Fairtrade
Millom is a former iron-ore mining town in a quiet corner of southwest Cumbria, just outside the Lake District National Park. It became a Fairtrade town in 2004. This means that it has fulfilled all of the criteria set by the Fairtrade Foundation. Many local traders, hotels, guesthouses, workplaces, churches, and schools in Millom & District have shown their support for Fair Trade by using and selling Fairtrade goods. You should find the Fairtrade logo on their premises and literature. A list of the current supporters is given on the ‘Supporters’ page.
Fair Trade in Millom is monitored and guided by a steering group of approximately 12 volunteers, under the title ‘One World Project’. For further information please contact:
Chairman: Dorothy Richardson (01229 772618)
Secretary: Beryl Newbold (01229 772563)
or send an e-mail to: mail@millomfairtrade.co.uk
The Steering Group would like to say a big thank you to all the individuals, businesses and organisations of Millom & District who have supported us in this venture. It is a great achievement and, hopefully, a platform for greater things in the future.
