OUR CALENDAR – 2009 – 2010

FAIRTRADE EVENTS IN MILLOM 2009:

July – Our ‘Fairtrade Maid’ with her Fairtrade Stall gained a Highly Commended Certificate at Millom’s Annual Scarecrow Festival.

August - We submitted documents to the Fairtrade Foundation and our application for Fairtrade Town Status renewal.

September – Fairtrade Banner Making Project began in local schools.

October - Fairtrade Campaign Supper was hosted by St James Roman Catholic Primary School on 15th October at 7.30p.m. Special thanks to John Cullen, member of staff at St James’ who produced a delicious meal. Special guests the Mayor & Mayoress of Millom.
The theme for the evening was “Fairtrade Success”. The guest speaker was Helen Boothroyd of Darlington, also co-ordinator for Churches Together in Cumbria’s Social Responsibility Forum. Formerly of Brampton’s Fairtrade Campaign. Her challenge was to continue Cumbria’s success story so that ‘everywhere Fairtrade becomes the norm’.

November 18th – We received the news that Millom’s application for Fairtrade Town Renewal had been successful. ‘Congratulatons on all the hard work and the team work!’

FAIRTRADE EVENTS IN MILLOM 2010:

January - Saturday 23rd: Special Meeting of Cumbria Fairtrade Network at Keswick Schoo. Guest Speakers: Harriet Lamb O.B.E. Chief Executive of the Fairtrade Foundation & Bruce Crowther, M.B.E. inspirational campaigner for international Fairtrade

On Friday 22nd : Harriet Lamb will address a Cumbrian Schools Conference also in Keswick. Millom students will also be represented.
Millom’s 6th Fairtrade Birthday Supper & A.G.M. to be held at the Byre Restaurant in Bootle village , near Millom. Guest Speaker : Mrs Cath Greenlees of Penwortham, Lancs – a presentation of ‘Fairtrade Producers in Peru’

February – Fairtrade Fortnight our theme for the year is FAIRTRADE PRODUCE.
