Congratulations to Ulverston & Barrow on achieving Fairtrade town status.

The Cumbria is the second county in the UK to become a Fairtrade county. Millom is among the fourteen, soon to be fifteen, Fairtrade towns and districts that have taken the initiative to achieve this goal. Several other towns throughout the county are also working hard to persuade their own communities to realise the worldwide benefits of buying, selling and using Fairtrade produce.

In November 2005 Cumbria County Council passed unanimously a resolution in support of Fair Trade, which includes the use of Fairtrade teas & coffees in council departments, encouraging similar use around the county and generally promoting Fair Trade issues.

Millom One World Project Members, Local Traders, Councillors and Millom School celebrate the unveiling of new Fairtrade signs on the way into Millom - unveiled 26th March 2007
